Sharper fuel and structure-spacing modeling
NewNeighborhood reports now factor how tightly homes are spaced, not just how many there are — clusters of structures within a few meters of one another are flagged for home-to-home fire spread, the pattern behind most structure loss in wildland-urban fires. This now works everywhere in the continental U.S., not only California.
ImprovedVegetation and fuel scoring now reads canopy height and density, not just vegetation type — a tall, closed forest canopy and low scrub of the same species are no longer scored the same, drawing on free national LANDFIRE canopy data.
ImprovedThe fire-spread visualization now treats gaps in the tree canopy — clearings, thinned stands, old burn scars — as fuel breaks that slow and deflect the modeled fire front, alongside roads and other barriers.
ImprovedReports now show the vintage of the LANDFIRE vegetation data behind each fuel map, so you can see how current it is.

Smarter neighborhood hazard mapping
NewNeighborhood reports now read wildfire hazard zone-by-zone from the USFS Wildfire Risk to Communities 30-meter national dataset — hotspots reflect where burn probability and fire intensity actually concentrate, not just where buildings cluster.
NewExpected annual structure exposures — a single headline number for how many structures in your community could be exposed to wildfire in an average year, computed with the USFS method and cited to its methodology.
ImprovedThe neighborhood report’s methodology section now explains exactly how USFS data shapes each zone’s score — a long-term average over thousands of simulated fire seasons, never a prediction for a specific year.
FixedBuilding density is no longer overstated for large community boundaries, so hotspots in bigger towns rank correctly.
FixedA partial USFS data outage no longer silently understates a property’s hazard score.

Evacuation planning
NewCreate a wildfire evacuation plan — draw evacuation zones, egress routes, contraflow segments, traffic control points, refuge and assembly points, decision points and at-risk assets directly on a satellite map.
NewA live methodology checklist scores every plan against U.S. Fire Administration national evacuation-planning guidance — flagging things like at-risk assets with no assigned route, zones whose exits aren’t independent, and pinch points with no traffic control, as pass / warn / fail findings.
NewExport a versioned draft evacuation plan as a PDF — overview, situation map, element inventory and full checklist — clearly stamped “draft, for AHJ review.” It’s a planning aid, never an evacuation order.
