Plain English summary: Satelife produces informational wildfire risk reports from satellite data and AI analysis. A report is not insurance, not legal or financial advice, not a fire-safety inspection, and not a guarantee of any outcome. It is an estimate, intended to help you think — every decision is yours, and Satelife is not liable for it. By using our service you accept these terms and these limits.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing satelife.ai, installing or using the Satelife mobile app, requesting a report, or paying for a report, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. In these Terms, "the service" means the website, the mobile app, and the reports produced through either.
2. Description of Service
Satelife provides AI-assisted wildfire risk assessment reports for residential and commercial properties. Reports are derived from satellite imagery, public GIS data, historical fire records, weather and terrain data, and proprietary analytical models. Reports are delivered electronically, typically within approximately 24 hours of a valid request.
The Satelife mobile app for iOS and Android is part of the same service. It lets you start an assessment, answer the readiness questionnaire while walking the property with no connectivity, photograph each requirement, and read the finished report.
Critical disclaimer. Satelife reports are produced for general informational purposes only. They do not constitute insurance, insurance advice, financial advice, legal advice, engineering advice, professional fire-safety inspection, real-estate appraisal, or any form of guarantee or warranty regarding property safety, insurability, market value, or fire-risk outcomes. Satelife is not a substitute for inspection by a qualified professional and does not assume any duty (fiduciary, professional, or otherwise) to you.
3. Nature of the Report — Informational Only, No Reliance
A Satelife report is an analytical estimate. Wildfire is a chaotic, weather-driven phenomenon, and any model of it — ours or anyone else's — is inherently uncertain. You expressly acknowledge and agree that:
- The report is informational only and creates no advisory, professional, agency, fiduciary, or insurance relationship between you and Satelife.
- The report does not warrant or guarantee that a property is safe, defensible, insurable, mortgageable, sellable, or free from wildfire risk.
- The report does not warrant that a fire will or will not occur, or that any specific damage will or will not result from one.
- You must not rely on the report as the sole basis for any decision, including but not limited to purchasing, selling, insuring, mortgaging, occupying, renovating, evacuating, or staying at a property.
- Before acting, you should consult licensed professionals — a fire-safety inspector, a licensed insurance broker, your local fire authority, and an attorney or financial advisor where appropriate.
- Conditions on the ground change rapidly; a report reflects data available at the time of generation only, and may not reflect current conditions on the day a fire occurs.
4. Not an Insurance Product or Insurance Advice
Satelife is not an insurance company, broker, agent, or producer, and is not authorized to transact insurance business in any jurisdiction. Satelife does not underwrite, place, recommend, or sell insurance, and nothing in any report should be construed as an insurance recommendation. Any reference to potential premium savings reflects past outcomes self-reported by some customers and is illustrative only — it is not a promise, projection, or guarantee that you will receive any premium adjustment.
5. Accuracy and Limitations
While we work to make our analyses accurate, you acknowledge that:
- Inputs are partly derived from third-party data sources (satellite providers, weather services, public GIS) over which Satelife has no control.
- Risk scores are probabilistic estimates, not guarantees of safety or insurability.
- Properties in rapidly changing fire environments may have a real risk profile that differs from what is reported.
- Satelife is not liable for any decision, action, or omission taken in reliance on a report.
6. User Responsibilities
By using our service, you agree to:
- Provide accurate property and contact information.
- Use reports only for lawful purposes, and only for the property or transaction for which they were requested.
- Not resell, sublicense, repackage, or redistribute reports without our prior written consent.
- Not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, copy, or replicate our analytical models or backend systems.
- Not submit false, misleading, or fraudulent requests, or attempt to use the service on behalf of someone whose property you have no authority to query.
7. Payment, Refunds, and Free Reports
Paid reports are processed by Stripe; Satelife never sees or stores your card details. Prices are shown at the point of purchase. Because each report is computed on demand for a specific address, all sales are final and non-refundable once the report has been generated and delivered, except where a refund is required by mandatory consumer-protection law. If a report fails to generate for technical reasons, we will either re-run it at no cost or refund the charge in full.
Any "free report" offer is a sample at our discretion, intended to demonstrate the service. Satelife may modify, limit, or discontinue the free offer at any time without notice.
7a. The Mobile App — Licence and Your Conduct
Satelife grants you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for the purpose of assessing property you own or are authorised to assess. You may not sublicense it, rent it out, or use it to provide an assessment service to third parties without our written consent.
When you photograph a property through the app, you confirm that you have the right to be there and to take those photographs, and that you have any consent required from an owner or occupier. You are responsible for what you photograph. Do not capture people, neighbouring private property, or anything else not needed to evidence the requirement in front of you.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials to yourself and for everything done under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those platforms are not parties to these Terms, provide no warranty for the app, and have no obligation to support it — any support question comes to us. Your use of each store is additionally governed by that store's own terms.
The app does not sell anything. It contains no in-app purchases and no advertising. Reports ordered through it are billed as described in Section 7.
We may release updates, change features, or discontinue the app. We support current and recent versions of iOS and Android; an old operating system may stop working with it.
7b. The Readiness Check Is Self-Reported
A Wildfire Prepared readiness check scores the answers and photographs you supply against the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home™ standard. It is not an inspection. No one from Satelife visits the property, and we do not verify that a photograph shows what an answer claims it shows.
The result is a readiness score, intended to show where a property stands before pursuing the official designation. It is not the IBHS designation, which only the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety can grant, and Satelife has no authority to grant, withhold, or influence it. IBHS is an independent nonprofit and is not affiliated with Satelife.
7c. Satelife Is Not a Government Entity
Satelife, Lda. is an independent private company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of CAL FIRE, the Office of the State Fire Marshal, the USDA Forest Service, FEMA, the USGS, the National Interagency Fire Center, or any other government agency or public body, and is not authorised to provide or facilitate any government service.
Where a report states an official designation — a Fire Hazard Severity Zone, for example — it is reporting what the responsible agency published for that parcel. It is not issuing that designation, and a Satelife score carries no regulatory status of its own. Every government source we read is named and linked on our Data & Disclosures page.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on satelife.ai — including reports, methodology, graphics, logos, models, and text — is owned by Satelife, Lda. and protected by copyright and other intellectual-property laws. You may share your individual property report for your personal or internal business use, but you may not reproduce, redistribute, white-label, or sell our platform content without our written consent.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service and all reports are provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, completeness, or uninterrupted availability. Satelife does not warrant that the service will be error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the service or its servers are free of viruses or other harmful components.
10. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Satelife, Lda., its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, loss of goodwill, loss of use, property damage, business interruption, or personal injury — arising out of or in connection with the service or any report, whether based in contract, tort (including negligence), statute, or any other legal theory, even if Satelife has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
- Satelife's total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount actually paid by you to Satelife for the specific report giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100.
- You agree that the limitations and exclusions in this section are an essential basis of the bargain between you and Satelife and that, without them, Satelife would not be able to offer the service on the terms described.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or the limitation of certain damages; in such jurisdictions, our liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Satelife, Lda., its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, and agents from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of, or reliance on, the service or any report; (b) your breach of these Terms; (c) any decision you make or action you take based in whole or in part on a report; or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party or applicable law.
12. Assumption of Risk
You acknowledge that wildfire is a natural hazard whose timing and behavior cannot be predicted with certainty by any technology. You voluntarily assume all risk associated with decisions you make about your property, including but not limited to whether to occupy, insure, harden, evacuate, buy, sell, or finance it. Satelife provides information; you make decisions.
13. Force Majeure
Satelife is not liable for any failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of nature, fire, flood, earthquake, war, terrorism, civil unrest, pandemic, network outage, satellite or data-provider outage, government action, or third-party service failure.
14. Third-Party Services
The service uses third-party providers including Stripe (payments), Google Analytics, Google Maps, Google Sign-In, Formspree, Cloudflare, and the Apple App Store and Google Play for app distribution. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Satelife is not responsible for the acts or omissions of those providers.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, you and Satelife each agree to bring any claim only in your or its individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding.
16. Severability and No Waiver
If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. Failure by Satelife to enforce any right under these Terms is not a waiver of that right.
17. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, communicated by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
